The Wu-Tang Clan were the most revolutionary rap group of the '90s. They were assembled as a loose congregation of nine MCs, almost as a support group. The Clan were designed to overtake the record industry in as profitable a fashion as possible. The idea was to establish themselves as a force with their debut album and then spin off into as many side projects. Wu-Tang's nine members have worked under a number of pseudonyms. The collective's name was taken from a powerful, mythical kung fu sword wielded by an invincible congregation of warriors.
The Wu-Tang Clan's solo projects elaborated on the theme the group laid out on its 1993 debut, the spare, menacing Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) The group formed in the mid-'90s and went on to release several albums and a series of mixtapes. Their hits include 'RZArecta' and 'The RZA-inspired R&B Experience' The Wu-Tang Clan has been dormant since 2007. Their last album, 8 Diagrams, was not released until 2011. In 2014, the group released ‘A Better Tomorrow.’ In 2017, the Clan contributed 'Don't Stop' to the Silicon Valley soundtrack. ‘The Saga Continues’ was released in 2019, and the soundtrack of the Showtime documentary series Showtime's 'Silicon Valley' was released as well.
