Shakira is a highly successful Columbian pop artist, best known for her shimmering belly dance moves in the video of the song 'Hips Don't Lie.' Since becoming a superstar in Latin America, Colombian-born Shakira has been the most popular female crossover artist ever since Jennifer Lopez. Noted by her fiery, rock-influenced approach, Shakira retained an unprecedented degree of artistic control over her music; she wrote or co-wrote almost all of her own material, and became one of Latin music's most ambitiously poetic lyricists.
