Pearl Jam was the most popular and enduring American rock & roll band of their time. The group's unpredictable business moves & the band's inclination to follow a winding path meant that by the time Pearl Jam left the 1990s they were no longer ruling rock music.

Pearl Jam, the band broke into the mainstream with its debut album, Ten, in 1991. It is considered one of the most influential bands of the 1990s. Pearl Jam was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7, 2017, in its first year of eligibility. The band had sold more than 85 million albums worldwide, and nearly 32 million albums in the United States by 2012. The group is considered 'the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s' by AllMusic.
