Bio

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were one of the most original rock groups of the '80s. The band combined funk and punk rock with an explosive stage show. The group was inspired by the L.A. punk scene and Parliament-Funkadelic. Their stage gimmick - performing on-stage completely naked, except for a tube sock - is their trademark. The Chili Pepper has inspired a slew of imitators since the early '80's, but they're still the best-loved band of all time. 'The X' is on the album 'Rock DJ,' & 'Chili Peppers' is debuted on May 25, 2009.

Life & Career

The Chili Peppers' first album, 1989's Mother's Milk, became a surprise hit due to MTV's exposure. The group's second album, 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, became their most successful release yet. It sold seven million copies in the U.S. alone. But not all was well in the band's camp, and two members left the band mid-tour in early 1992. Their third album, One Hot Minute, was a sizable hit, but it failed to match the success of its predecessor, BSSM. The band's fourth album, 2004's Red, was their last with former Parliament guitarist Blackbyrd McKnight and former Dead Kennedys drummer D.H. Peligro, who both left the group. The band took an extended hiatus from music in the early 2000s. Josh Klinghoffer's first album with the band, the Rick Rubin-produced I'm with You, was released in 2011. Red Hot Chili Peppers released their 11th album, Getaway, in 2016.
