Following the success of JLS and Wanted, the One Direction contestants of X-Factor became the next group of heartthrobs to help revive the concept of a boy band. The quintet outstripped all of its contemporaries, becoming the biggest boy band ever since Take That, selling millions of albums and singles, filling stadiums and making movies, all while reaching number one several times around the world with undeniably crooked songs and plenty of boy-next-door charm.

In 2015, Zayn Malik quit the band to pursue a solo carrier & the remaining four continued to perform together; releasing "Drag Me Down," the first single from their fifth album, Made in the A.M. The band has been on hiatus since 2015. As of 2020, the band released ‘10 years of One Direction’ website where remastered 4K versions of their past music videos and a concert videos were released daily in July 2020.
