Sukhwinder Singh is an Indian Bollywood playback singer. He is famous for his rendition of the song 'Chaiyya Chaiyyya' from Dil Se... His rendition of 'Jai Ho' from Slumdog Millionaire won an Academy Award and a Grammy Award. His film Haider fetched him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
Singh first performed on stage at the young age of 8, singing the Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar number 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' from the 1970 movie Abhinetri. He got his first Bollywood break in the blockbuster patriotic movie Karma. He has provided playback for many notable Bollywood actors including Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgan, Riteish Deshmukh, Tushar Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi. In June 2014, he participated in the 7th season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He also released a Punjabi album called Munda Southhall Da with T. Singh, joined Laxmikant–Pyarelal's troupe.
