Performed by the castmates themselves during the pilot, the song ultimately sold over 700,000 copies. It paved the way for Glee's popularity, not just as a TV show, but also as a chart-topping recording entity. Columbia Records became the show's official music partner in 2009. The show's soundtrack, The Power of Madonna, debuted at number one & was the first of three Glee releases to do so, as the series wrapped up its first season in the summer of 2010.
