The Doors Hors

With vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore; The Doors were the first rock band to break into the mainstream. Their magnum opus 'The End' was their biggest hit. Their blend of muscle and mysticism helped shape the parameters of punk and art-rock. The group's biggest lasting influence was their blend of blues and hard rock with a flinty, earthy earthiness. The Doors played a key role in the making of Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now,' which was partly inspired by their hit 'Light My Fire.' The band's biggest hits include 'Love Me Two Times,' 'Hello, I Love You,' and 'Touch Me.'

The Doors recorded 'Moonlight Drive,' 'Hello, I Love You,' and 'Summer's Almost Gone' in 1965. Jim Morrison joined the band after meeting Rick and Jim Manzarek in Rick & the Ravens. The band signed with Elektra, which also was home to Love, in 1966. The Doors scored a residency at the London Fog, a club situated on the Sunset Strip in the summer of 1966. The band recorded their debut at Sunset Sound, their first live set since the first London Fog residency. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. The low-key reunion continued in 2000 when the group recorded a spot on VH!'s Storytellers. In 2002, Manzarek and Krieger teamed up with Ian Astbury of the Cult on vocals for a new project called the Doors of the 21st Century. The group has released notable live performances regularly over the past two decades.
