An Indian playback singer, Richa Sharma is known for her work in the Hindi film industry and her devotional tracks. Sharma trained under the guidance of Pandit Aaskaran Sharma and moved to Bombay in 1994 to pursue her musical dream. She started her career with covers and bhajans until she made her Bollywood debut in 1997. It was with singing ‘Ni Main Samajhh Gayi’ for A.R. Rahman in the 1999 musical romantic drama, Taal was when Sharma found fame. There has been no looking back for this powerhouse since, she’s gone on to deliver back to back chartbusters like, ‘Chhodo More Baiyyan’, ‘Saajan Ke Ghar Jana Hai’, ‘Chhalka, Chhalka Re’. Sharma’s versatile career goes beyond Bollywood and consists of ghazals and Punjabi and Rajasthani folk music. Sharma’s 2003 song, ‘Maahi Ve’ remains to be one of her most loved songs and won her the award for the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2003.
