Known for her highly-stylized 'Cry Baby' alter ego, Melanie Martinez has carved out a distinctive niche in the pop landscape, crafting arty, frequently dark anthems influenced by her childhood and infused with folk, electronic, and hip-hop blooms. After initially winning fans for The Voice in 2012, Martinez took her experimental pop to full height on her Top Ten debut album, 2015’s Cry Baby.
Life & Career
Melanie Martinez began her singing career by becoming a contestant on The Voice Season 3. Her singles performances from the show were ably charted on iTunes chart. After eliminated from the show, Martinez released her debut single 'Dollhouse' which lead her signing with Atlantic Records. In 2015, Martinez released her studio album 'Cry Baby' which has a storyline and continued with the next EP 'Cry Baby's Extra Clutter' that released in 2016. Melanie Martinez's style is unique and using themes for her performances. 2020 brought the dreamy harp-led single, 'Fire Drill,' along with the buoyant 'Play Date.'
