Alex van der Zouwen ( Rozenburg , 1 July 1986 ), known by his stage name Kraantje Pappie , is a Dutch hip-hop artist and television presenter . He is mainly known for his unique, often off-beat and exaggerated way of rapping.
Around 2007 he started to stand out in the hip hop community due to mix tapes and performances. In 2007 Van der Zouwen won the Groningen hip-hop competition Before the Fame Awards, which started his career as a rapper. He broke through early 2012 with the general public with his debut album Crane . The album was characterized by Van der Zouwen's rhyme technique in combination with the dubstep and grime productions of the Groningen producer trio Noisia (aka Nightwatch). Early May 2015, Van der Zouwen suddenly released three new albums, one of which he sent to fans whose addresses he had. It is a trilogy called Guardian of the Real Shit . On these three albums there are 39 tracks and collaborations with all kinds of different artists, such as Jan Smit , Dope DOD , Jiggy Djé and the Gelogeerde Aap . The albums were also free to download for a week. On September 28, 2018, his album Daddy was released, whose track Lil Craney was awarded double platinum for more than 160,000 records sold. In 2013, Van der Zouwen made his debut as a television presenter and together with Geraldine Kemper presented the second season of the program The Next MC .
