C. Joseph Vijay, professionally known as Vijay, is an Indian film actor and playback singer popular in the Tamil entertainment industry. Vijay started his career at the age of ten and marked his childhood cinematic debut in the 1984 drama, Vetri. He continued to perform as a child artist in films till the 1988 flick, Ithu Engal Neethi directed by his father S. A. Chandrasekhar. Vijay has sung 32 songs to date as a playback singer, starting with ‘Bombay City’ in 1994 to ‘Papa Papa’ in 2017. He also garnered global attention for his performance in the song, ‘Selfie Pulla’ in 2014 topping the charts across Europe. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Tamil cinema and has to date acted in about 61 movies as a lead actor. He’s also won around 50 awards including notable three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, one Cosmopolitan Award, one Indiatoday Award, one SIIMA Award, eight Vijay Awards, three Edison Awards, two Vikatan Awards, and was nominated for one National Award UK.
