A celebrity DJ, coveted artist, label owner and wizard behind Major Lazer, Diplo (aka Diplodocus, Wes Diplo, and Wes Gully) launched his electronic music career on the fringes. With his mash-up mixtapes, where he intersects his musical interests, he discovered and created a style, influenced by the '80s rock, electronica, Dirty South hip-hop and his major influence, Miami bass music. His eye-catching projects include Hollertronix, with partner DJ Low Budget, and the Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol. 1 Mixtape had a massive impact on the underground electro-pop scene with the British-Sri Lankan MC M.I.A., earning positive reviews from music critics as well as from indie fans.

Diplo started with his mash up mix tapes and it wasn't long until he was known as the master of electronic dance music on the local front, playing at various clubs in Philadelphia. He then introduced his own club nights with his buddy DJ Low Budget, nicknamed 'Hollertronix.' Diplo continued to work on his dreams and soon released his first solo record, 'Florida,' which was only the first of many his promising music projects. His most famous stint was 'Major Lazer' and his worldwide success soared to the sky. Throughout his Mad Decent series the essence of rock, hip-hop, and electronic music was represented, while his futuristic Major Lazer project combined dancehall with rave culture and toured the globe as a live-party sound system. Super duos with Skrillex (Jack Ü) and Mark Ronson (Silk City) both earned Grammy awards by the late 2010s, in collaboration with Justin Bieber and Dua Lipa.
