Bio

A revolving group of Los Angeles-based studio musicians, the Vitamin String Quartet has carved out a unique niche for themselves, recording new interpretations of songs by a wide variety of well-known rock, pop, and country artists, arranged for a small string ensemble. After its first release in 1999, the VSQ has released well over 100 albums, under their own label Vitamin Records, most of which feature single artist songs and, in some cases, perform a single album in its entirety, even though the group has also released themed collections focused on particular moods, styles or genres.

Life & Career

Since the beginning, the roster of the quartet has remained variable. Still, the violinist and arranger Tom Tally has been a significant contributor to the group, having recorded and arranged more than 50 albums of the VSQ. In 2009, the quartet took an innovative step forward with the album Per Versions, which featured some original compositions along with songs from a variety of alternative pop groups. The following year, VSQ Performs Lady Gaga made a Top Ten appearance on the Billboard Classical Albums chart, and the band joined Thirty Seconds to Mars for the 2011 debut of the rock band on MTV Unplugged. In the meantime, the quartet's recordings have continued to be approved for several television programmes, including So You Think You Can Dance, The Vampire Diaries, Modern Family, and Westworld.
