Salim–Sulaiman is an Indian composer duo consisting of siblings Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. The duo is predominantly known for composing music for Hindi films. Their father Sadruddin Merchant was a veteran composer of the industry and also used to lead the Ismaili Scouts Orchestra in India. Salim mastered the piano at Trinity College of Music in London and Sulaiman trained in table with the likes of Taufiq Qureshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain. Six years after their first music composition for a Bollywood film, they received acclaim for the film score of the movie, ‘Bhoot’. The duo has been composing music for over a decade and has composed for hit movies like, ‘Neal ‘n’ Nikki’, ‘Chak De! India’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Fashion’ to name a few. They’ve also composed for many Indi-pop performers including Viva, Aasmaan, Shweta Shetty, Jasmine, and Style Bhai among others, and composed and produced several TV commercials and collaborated with artists such as Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ustad Sultan Khan.
