One of the first Swedish rappers to smash the globe, Yung Lean started his career with the Sad Boys, a crew with a name that mirrored the melancholy nature of Lean's music. Substance abuse and mental illness were prominent themes in both Yung Lean's early music and life outside the studio as he grappled with dependency and bipolar disorder. The strength of his life blew into the grim atmospheres of his early solo recording music and moved to more commercially focused efforts like Starz in 2020.
Yung Lean was part of the Sad Boys. His first hit, 'Ginseng Strip 2002,' earned two million views. The single 'Creep Creeps' is from his fourth album, which released in 2019. His third album, Stranger, is his first mainstream pop-trap record. Fourth album Starz materialised in 2020. The title track credits elements to Ariel Pink, but there were no other features on the album. A$AP Ferg produced it.
