Jassie Gift is an Indian movie music composer and playback singer. He composes music and songs for the movies Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. He became famous after his song 'Lajjavathiye' in movie 4, people became a hit. He had been interested in music since childhood and was strongly influenced by western music. From a young age, he took lessons in western piano and began to sing and play the keyboard for a few local bands. He admires Ilayaraja and is a big fan of Freddie Mercury.
Jassie Gift entered the film music industry under the leadership of director Jayaraj. Before joining films, he composed songs for a couple of music albums in Malayalam. He pioneered the use of reggae fusion music in the Malayalam music industry with the origins of Indian ragas. His medley of western and Indian music became very popular among the listeners who formed a new genre of Malayalam film dance music. His strikingly distinctive voice led to a unique vocal style. The first composition of Jassie was for the film Saphalam. Jassi Gift has worked with many South Indian musicians such as Harris Jayaraj, Devisri Prasad, Yuvan Shankar Raja and M M Keeravani, Anirudh Ravichander, Tamizha hip hop and has collaborated with almost every music director from South India.
