Javier Solís mejor conocido como uno de los solistas de Mariachi más reconocidos en México. Proveniente de orígenes humildes, a temprana edad tuvo que abandonar la escuela para ayudar a mantener a su familia. Se entrenó como boxeador aficionado durante seis años con aspiraciones de convertirse en profesional, pero renunció después de que su padre lo instó a elegir una carrera más "decente". El joven solía cantar en concursos locales por pequeños premios (como un par de zapatos nuevos), pero finalmente se le prohibió participar porque dominaba el concurso.
A los 16 años, fue a Puebla, México para cantar con el Mariachi Metepec, pero no fue hasta años después, cuando Julito Rodríguez y el trío lo escucharon cantar en un bar local que obtuvo su primera oportunidad como artista discográfico. Lo llevaron a una audición con CBS Records, donde firmó un contrato discográfico y grabó su primer álbum en 1950. Su primer éxito, "Lloraras", llegó dos años después y llevó a su productor Felipe Valdés Leal a darle el nombre de Javier Solís. El vocalista alcanzó el reconocimiento internacional en 1957, haciendo apariciones en Estados Unidos, Centro y Sudamérica. Fue el primero en cantar canciones en un estilo que hoy se conoce como "Boleros-Rancheras". Cantó boleros típicamente asociados con la música de trío pero ahora acompañados de mariachis, agregando también valses y tangos a su repertorio como un prolífico intérprete de muchos estilos musicales.

No contento con simplemente actuar como artista discográfico, inició su carrera actoral en 1959; filmando más de 20 películas
