Known as Avicii, Tim Bergling is popular for his pristinely produced anthems like ‘Levels’, ‘Wake Me Up’ & ‘Hey Brother’ that brought a pop sensibility to the electronic scene, redefining the global EDM phenomenon. Avicii started mixing in his bedroom at the age of 8 and began making music at the age of 16, drawing inspiration from his brother who was also a DJ. He was influenced by Basshunter, Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia, and Eric Prydz. He described his introduction to electronic music as 'listening to a lot of Daft Punk, way before I knew what house music was.” Aged 28, Avicii’s death sent a shockwave across the globe with fans & admirers who mourned as much as his songs uplifted them during his career.

Avicii’s early work was deep & progressive house, based on a four-chord structure, sub-bass and a simple synth melody. His debut studio album ‘True’ featured a blend of music genres, including folktronica. Avicii signed with the Dejfitts Plays label in 2007 & was a member of the Laidback Luke Forums, crafting and demonstrating his distinct deep house style. By 2009 to 2010, he was a prolific producer and was releasing music incredibly quickly. ‘Levels’ launched him to the mainstream EDM scene & his track ‘Sunshine’ in collaboration with David Guetta was nominated for a Grammy under the Best Dance Recording category. Coca-Cola had partnered with Avicii for a global campaign anthem ‘Taste the Feeling’ in 2013. He also teamed up with Coldplay to co-produce the band's single ‘Hymn for the Weekend.’ During his final tour in 2016, he released a single ‘Forever Yours’ in collaboration with Kygo and Sandro Cavazza. Later, he retired from touring due to health problems, having suffered stress and poor mental health for several years & committed suicide in Muscat, Oman in 2018.
