Bio

Haricharan Seshadri, known and credited as Haricharan, is a Carnatic musician and an Indian playback singer. Born to the Palakkad Iyer family of music connoisseurs, his grandfather P.S. Ganapathy was the organiser of Mic-less Carnatic gigs in the 1960s under the name 'Aalapanaa;' Haricharan has performed primarily in the languages of Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu. He began to study Carnatic music at the age of 7 under the guidance of Smt. Sethu Mahadevan and then he had the fortune of learning from stalwarts like K. V. Narayanaswamy, T.M.Prabhavathi, P.S. Narayanaswamy.

Life & Career

Haricharan recorded his first Tamil film song for the film Kaadhal, in Joshua Sridhar's music when he was 17, and went on to record three songs in his debut film. His song Unakena Irupen was nominated for the National Film Awards in 2005, and became very popular. Since then, he has released a host of hit numbers for various music directors all over the South, primarily in Tamil and Telugu. After his most recent hit, "Thuli Thuli," he became even more popular. Haricharan is one of the most prominent guest singers in the rap music of Yuvan Shankar Raja. He was also part of One Heart: The A.R. Rahman Concert Film ( 2017), a movie about A. R. Rahman's concert tour across 14 cities in North America.
