Bio

Matt Maeson, a Chesapeake Bay native, took early to music, practised drums and guitar at a young age, and eventually toured as part of his father's prison ministry. Already a budding songwriter struggling through a rebellious time in his late teens, the experience of playing in high-security prisons and many other dark corners of society made a lifelong impact on Maeson.

Life & Career

Melding bluesy indie-folk and modern production, Maeson started posting tracks on SoundCloud and eventually caught the attention of Atlantic partner Neon Gold Records, who signed it in 2016. Maeson embarked on his first tour that summer, which was presented by Communion, a music organisation established by Mumford & Sons' Ben Lovett—driven by the singles 'Cringe' and 'Grave Digger,' his EP debut, Who Killed Matt Maeson? , published in combination with Atlantic and Neon Gold in March 2017. A year later, Maeson released a six-piece EP, The Hearse, followed in December 2018 by a two-piece single, 'The Mask' and 'Cringe.'
