Bio

The English singer and songwriter James Andrew Arthur is best known for winning the 9th series at the popular television music competition 'The X Factor.' His first single, the cover-version of 'Impossible' by Shontelle Layne, was at the top of the 'UK Singles List.’ Arthur is also the ambassador of a leading UK charity, SANE.

Life & Career

After his X Factor success, Arthur worked alongside Labrinth and Graham Stack for his debut album. He put out the eponymous release later that year; featuring 'Impossible' and 'Roses,’ as well as follow-up singles 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You,' 'Recovery,' and 'Get Down.' Arthur departed from Syco Music the following year and briefly returned to the scene with an independent release, the rap mixtape, All the World's a Stage. Signing a record deal with Columbia in 2016, Arthur issued his second full-length effort, Back from the Edge. The stripped-down and reflective record spawned the singles 'Say You Won't Let Go' and 'Remember Who I Was.' He released a string of singles in 2018, including 'Rewrite the Stars,' a duet with Anne-Marie featured on The Greatest Showman: Reimagined. 2019 brought the solo single 'Falling Like the Stars,' along with the Ty Dolla $ign collaboration 'Treehouse,' featuring Shotty Horroh. Both singles landed on YOU, his outward-facing third album released in October that year.
