Who Are the Artists of the BABYMETAL Group?
BABYMETAL is a Japanese band that unites the heavy metal and kawaii genres (Japanese term for 'cute'). The band was originally formed by three singers: Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal). The group's concept is a fusion between the aesthetics of contemporary pop idols and the heavy sound of metal, managed by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency.
The band began as a subunit of Japanese idol group Gakuin in 2010, becoming an independent act in 2013. BABYMETAL released their eponymous debut album in 2014, followed by the album 'Metal Resistance' in 2016, which achieved considerable international success.
After a period of success and international touring, in 2018, it was announced that Yui Mizuno would leave the band due to health issues. Since then, BABYMETAL has continued to perform and record with Su-metal and Moametal, supported by his live band, the Kami Band.
The band is known for their dynamic live performances and breaking down cultural and linguistic barriers, popularizing the kawaii metal genre around the world.
