Selena Quintanilla, known simply as Selena, was an American singer, songwriter, actress and fashion designer of Mexican origin. Born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas, Selena is considered one of the most relevant figures in Texas music and one of the most influential Latin artists of all time. Her career was tragically interrupted when she was murdered on March 31, 1995, at the age of 23, by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club.

Selena began her musical career at an early age, being part of the band Selena y Los Dinos, which was managed by her father, Abraham Quintanilla.
