Shakthisree Gopalan is an Indian vocalist, songwriter and singer, famous for her collaborations with leading South Indian music directors/composers including A. R. Rahman, guy. Apart from film music, she is a regular in the indie music scene, playing with different bands over the years dabbling in pop, R’n’B, trip-hop and jazz. She has been trained in Carnatic music for 13 years.
At the age of 13, Shakthisree Gopalan had already been trained in Carnatic and rock music. After winning the 'SS Music Voice Hunt' award in 2008, Gopalan made her film debut in the same year. She was third in the Chennai Live Band hunt. Shaktisree met A R Rahman when she was assigned to design his music school, K M Music Conservatory. That's when she got a break to sing 'Nenjikulle' for the Kadal movie, the first song she's ever recorded in her career. Subsequently, she recorded many songs for films such as 'Irumbukottai Murattu Singham,' 'Kattradhu Kalavu.'
