Musiq Sou

Taalib Johnson, professionally known as Musiq Soulchild or simply Musiq blends R&B, funk, blues, jazz, gospel influences fused with hip hop in his music style. He built a reputation for beatboxing for MC's and freestyling on the open-mic circuit. Deeply inspired by the R&B/Soul sound of the 70's he uses the name 'Soulchild' as a way to show respect and admiration to his biggest musical influences.

Musiq Soulchild released his debut album, Aijuswanaseing, in 2000. Its lead single was 'Just Friends (Sunny)'. Musiq's second single 'Love' spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Luvanmusiq (2007), OnMyRadio (2008), and MusiqintheMagiq (2011) all offered slight refinements of his mature sound and either topped or came close to beating the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Musiq Soulchild released his seventh proper album, Life on Earth, in 2016.
