Rex Vijayan is the leading guitarist for the alternative Malayali rock band Avial. Vijayan was part of the influential rock band Motherjane, based in Kochi, as a rhythm guitarist from 2000 to 2003. He later became the music composer, lead guitarist and synthesiser of the Trivandrum-based Malayalam alternative rock band 'Avial.' He was also part of the German amateur hip-hop band 'Intensive Erfrischung' (Intensive Refreshment), based in Munich. Rex debuted in film music with Anwar Rasheed's 'Bridge,' a part of the Portmanteau movie Kerala Cafe. His most recent releases as a music composer are Sudanese from Nigeria, Thamaasha and Valiyaperunnal, both highly praised. He also worked as a music director for Halal Love Story in 2020.
