In July 2001, Mario began recording his major-label debut album, titled Mario, which was nearly a year before the official release in March 2002.

He released his second album, Turning Point on December 7, 2004. Mario's third album Go was released in South Africa under Gallo Records on October 9, 2007, in the U.S. on December 11, 2007. His fourth album D.N.A.was released first in the United Kingdom on October 12, 2009. He released a new single "Pain is the New Pleasure" on June 16, 2017.On September 14, 2018, the title track of Mario's fifth album of the same name was released. On October 5, 2018, Dancing Shadows was finally released.
