Jolin Tsai Ping Mei Ping

Jolin Tsai is known to have frequently reinvented both her music and her image and is cited as the massive role of popularising dance-pop as mainstream popular music in Greater China. She retains her autonomy within the entertainment industry, and her musical productions have earned widespread critical acclaim. Referred to as the "Queen of C-Pop" she has gained fame in the Chinese-speaking world by releasing several successful albums.

Tsai started her singing career by winning the championship at the 1998 MTV singing competition. Her debut album, 1019 (1999), quickly made her a teenage star with a huge teenage fanbase. Her fifth album, Magic (2003), is considered to have been one of her greatest hits so far, right after her eighth album, Dancing Diva (2006), which reflected her mature artistic declaration. Her thirteenth album, Play (2014), took her to the international spotlight. After several popular albums, her 14th album, Ugly Beauty, was released in 2018. Her efforts have received several awards including four Golden Melody Awards, the Mnet Asian Music Award, the MTV Asia Award and the MTV Video Music Award. As a businesswoman, she launched her own Eternal entertainment company in 2009. Her other projects include fashion design and writing books.
