Kailas Menon is an Indian film and commercial composer. After more than ten years as a composer for television advertisements, he debuted as a composer in feature films with director Jayaraj's Pakarnnatam. His first commercial release came much later with Theevandi, for which he received his first film fare award.
Kailas had his first debut, the Snehathode music album, at the age of 16. His career started much later when he joined the Malayalam film composer Ouseppachan as an assistant and later became a sound engineer for Gopi Sunder. This was followed by a decade-long career as a composer of television advertisements, having scored over 1000 commercials for brands such as Rolls Royce, Samsung, Toshiba, Unilever, Bhima Jewellers, etc. He made his debut as a film composer with Jayaraj's off-beat film Pakarnattam. This was followed by Starring Pournami, which was shelved in the middle. His first mainstream release happened a lot later, with Theevandi. The song Jeevamshamayi by Shreya Goshal and K. S. Harisankar, he was given the Filmfare Award.
