Cat Power

Cat Power's Chan Marshall pens literate and emotionally revealing songs. Her earliest albums reflected the influence of New York's experimental rock scene. As time went on, the folk, blues, and soul music she was raised on made themselves known. Marshall continued to experiment, adding electronics on 2012's Sun and releasing one of her starkest albums yet with 2018's Wanderer.

Cat Power composed her first song in the fourth grade, immersing herself in the record collection of her stepfather. The first single by Cat Power, 'Headlights' b/w 'Darling Said Sir,' was released in 1993. At the beginning of 2003, another Cat Power album, You Are Free, became her charting debut. Her album Sun debuted at number 10 on Billboard's 200 album chart. Shel recorded The Greatest in 2005 with the legends of Memphis R&B Mabon 'Teenie' Hodges. CatPower made her Domino Records debut with Wanderer 2018, a collection of stripped-down, folk and blues-inspired songs that included 'Woman' and a cover of Rihanna's 'Stay.'
