Born Juaquin James Malphurs, Waka Flocka Flame is an artist who broke the Top 20 of the Billboard R&B / hip-hop chart with 'O Let's Do It' (2009), a boisterous collaboration with producer L-Don Beatz, was one of the biggest mainstream rap breakouts of the late nineties and early 2010s. That hit resulted in a Top Ten album, Flockaveli (2010), armed with 'Hard in da Paint' and 'No Hands,' similarly rowdy and unforgettable hits that were RIAA-certified quickly.
Nicknamed Waka by his cousin (after a catchphrase of Muppets character Fozzie Bear), he was part of Gucci Mane's Brick Squad collective. Waka Flocka Flame debuted in 2009, during which he released several mixtapes. His second album, 'Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, and Family,' went straight to number ten. In 2013, Waka promised a sequel, as his third solo album. Waka's third album was released in 2014. The artist has released two solo albums since 2011. He hit the Top 40 in Canada as the featured artist on Mia Martina's 'Beast.' He announced the imminence of an EDM-oriented album, Turn Up Godz, in 2015.
