Bio

The Neighbourhood were formed in 1986. They immediately began recording sessions but after trashing their first efforts didn't release any product until late 1988. Claiming a P-Funk label/category/genre and citing George Clinton and Funkadelic as heroes (but with Hutton arguing that they 'were attempting to carve their own niche' and 'it's all too convenient to pigeon-hole these days') The Neighbourhood came and went without causing any ripples chart-wise. They toured with The Christians and Simply Red and released two singles and an album before fizzling out. Hutton went on to release solo stuff, Everything (PIAS 2000) and The Conscious Kind (Some Bizarre SBZCD05 1991), while Geoff Blythe moved to New York and Black 47. Big Jimmy Paterson went on to join up with Kevin Rowland during his wilderness years, working on the songs for the planned early-90s Dexys album. In the years which followed, The Neighbourhood's main man Tim Hutton has had a very successful career in the music business including work with Ian Brown, Groove Armada, Prodigy and Amy Winehouse. In time this page will be extended and updated to include details of these 'further adventures'.
