Shruti Haasan

Shruti Haasan is an Indian actress and singer who works primarily in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil-language films. Born in the Haasan family, she is the daughter of the actors’ Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur. Haasan focused on film and music, and eventually travelled to the US to continue studying music at the California Musicians Institute before returning to Chennai.

Haasan sang in films as a child performer and appeared in a guest role in the directorial part of her father, Hey Ram (2000), before making her adult acting debut in the 2009 Bollywood film Luck. Haasan is also a well-established playback singer and began her career as a music director with her father's production Unnaipol Oruvan (2009) and has since formed her own music band. Haasan made her singing debut in the Hindi language movie Chachi 420. In 2014, she lent her voice to the Telugu film Aagadu.
