Serena Lauren Ryder is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Born and brought up in a musical family and sang at Royal Canadian Legion halls and motor hotels when she was only 8. She started playing the guitar when she was 13 and by age 15 she was playing classic and folk tunes with her piano teacher in coffeehouses and legion halls. Ryder’s first full-length album, ‘Falling Out’ was released in 1999 and she went on to appear in live concerts with many local and touring acts including the bands Thousand Foot Krutch, Three Days Grace and Craig Cardiff. Ryder came to gain national recognition with her 2007 ballad ‘Weak in the Knees’ 2007 and also received the 2008 Juno Award for the Best New Artist of the Year. After a slew of hit singles and albums, Ryder and her long-time manager Sandy Pandya co-launched ArtHaus, a collaborative space and recording studio aiming to promote emerging talent.
