Bio

Monali Thakur is an Indian singer and actress known for her work in the Bollywood industry. Born into a singing family, Thakur’s father and sister are both popular singers in the Bengali music industry. Thakur started singing in school and college competitions and soon found her way to the musical reality show Indian Idol 2. She rose to popularity after placing ninth in the competition and made her debut with ‘Kubool Kar Le’ from the movie Jaan-E-Mann in 2006. Her subsequent songs for the movie Race, especially ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ went on to be enormously successful. Thakur’s work has earned her numerous nominations and also won her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song ‘Sawaar Loon’ from the film Lootera in 2014. Thakur also won the National Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song "Moh Moh Ke Dhaage" from the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha in March 2016. In 2017, she also collaborated with the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Pixie Lott among others on the track ‘On the Top of The World’
