Bio

Jaspinder Narula is an Indian playback, classical and Sufi singer, known for her work in Hindi and Punjabi cinema. Born to a father, Kesar Singh Narula who was a popular music composer of the ’50s, Jaspinder’s career began very early. After a few years of singing only bhajans and Sufiana compositions, Narula moved to Bombay to pursue a career in Bollywood. She shot to fame after her song, ‘Pyar to Hona Hi Tha’ with Remo Fernandes from the 1998 film of the same name. Narula won the award for the Best Female Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards in 1999 for the same. Some of the most notable films she has sung in her long career include, Mission Kashmir, Mohabbatein, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, and Bunty Aur Babli. Narula is also a well-known Sufi musician and is known for Gurbani and other Sikh religious music. In 2008, she won the title of India's Best Live Performer in the NDTV Imagine singing reality series, Dhoom Macha De.
