Bio

Neeti Mohan is an Indian singer who was born in Delhi to a government officer father. Eldest of four sisters, two of whom are acclaimed dancers, Neeti started learning music as a hobby. She was a member of her school band was actively involved in dramatics and dancing too. Neeti formally studied music at Bhatkhande Music Institute and trained with Rajshree Pathak for five years before pursuing her hobby, professionally. She’s mainly known for her Bollywood tracks which have gotten her critical acclaim but Mohan’s done tracks in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, and English too. Mohan was one of the winners of the 2003 Channel V show ‘Popstars’ which led her to be a member of the pop group ‘Aasma’ where she performed with the legendary Bryan Adams. Known for her high-pitched and raw vocal structure, Mohan entered Bollywood with the popular soft ballad ‘Ishq Wala Love’ from Student of the Year in 2012. She went on to work with A.R Rahman soon after and sang ‘Jiya Re’ from Jab Tak Hai Jaan in the same year. These two tracks won her the RD Burman Award for New Music Talent at the Annual Filmfare awards, and she also won the Best Female Playback Singer for the song ‘Jiya Re’. Mohan’s performance on the jazzy tracks for the Karan Johar film Bombay Velvet in 2015 prompted Amit Trivedi to compare her to the likes of Asha Bhosle and Nina Simone. Neeti, more recently voiced the character of Rapunzel in the Hindi dubbed version of Tangled: Before Ever After in 2017 and the character of Poppy in the Hindi dubbed version of the animated musical, ‘Trolls World Tour’.
