Bio

The name Protonema is taken from a biological term meaning budding moss. The hope, Protonema music can be accepted anywhere as moss buds can easily grow anywhere.

Life & Career

Protonema first appeared as a band in an art performance in schools. At that time they did not have a permanent vocalist and keyboardist. Only when they joined a band festival, they found a vocalist who doubles as a percussion, Ozie. Protonema then diligently performed in several cafes in Bandung such as Bumi Sangkuriang, O'Hara, tavern Fame and Laga. They have also been OZ Bandung's home band in the Pub On The Air and Ardan's radio cafe Music Cafe. April 1996, Protonema re-entered the studio to make a second album. This album became a special album because it was dealt with more seriously for matters of sound selection and arrangement. Besides this album is also a marker of the age of Protonema who reached 5 years. In this album they carry the mainstay single Rinduku Adinda, Too Love, and All Hearts. In 2000 Protonema released the third album titled First Choice with Ian as the vocalist. Unfortunately the presence of Ian was unable to replace the figure of Micko which led to the collapse of this third album on the market. After that Protonema decided to take a long break from the music world. In 2008, Protonema was shocked by the news of the death of Micko, their former vocalist due to a heart attack.
