Bio

Laidback Luke is one of the most influential EDM artists of the 2000s. He was inspired by Chicago and New York house as well as Detroit techno. He signed to a major-label deal and released his debut album Electronic Satisfaction in 2002. In the 2010s, he worked with the likes of Steve Aoki, Example, and Martin Solveig. His full-length Focus was released in 2015 and is his most accessible material to date.

Life & Career

Laidback Luke, aka Luke van Scheppingen, became an instantly recognizable name in the techno and house scenes in the '90s. In 2000 he released his first major-label single, Rocking with the Best, after he signed a deal with Virgin. His style has since shifted to a more electro-house sound, and he has remixed for Daft Punk. Luke has released three albums since 2000, all of which have been re-released on Virgin Records. In 2003, he met Swedish DJ and producer Steve Angello via his own website's forum. The pair collaborated in 2006 with the release of Otherwize Then. Scheppingen joined forces with Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell for the huge 2007 hit Get Dumb. His long-awaited sophomore release Focus was released in 2015 with contributions from Yellow Claw, Benny Benassi, and others. Luke remixed songs by some of dance and pop music's biggest stars, including Madonna, Depeche Mode, Robin Thicke, and Tiësto. He has also collaborated with the likes of Steve Aoki, Diplo, and U.K. chart-topper Example.
