Bio

Supernova is an American punk rock band founded in 1989 in Costa Mesa, California. The band released three full-length albums, several singles and EPs, and they were part of the original 1995 Vans Warped Tour line-up. They are perhaps best known to international audiences for their song 'Chewbacca' which featured Kevin Smith's 1994 independent film Clerks on the soundtrack. They're also known for the song 'Up & Down' they performed at the Nick Jr. Children's Show Yo Gabba Gabba in 2007.

Life & Career

Supernova released their debut studio album Ages 3 & Up in 1995 followed by extensive touring as the band joined the line-up of the inaugural Vans Warped Tour in 1995, spending the majority of the decade touring with the kind of prominent Orange County bands. In the mid-2000s, after several years of relative inactivity, Supernova experienced a revival of success after embarking on several tours with The Aquabats, following its commercial resurgence with the 2005 album Charge!!. But the band slipped into an unexplained hiatus, playing their last show as 'Supernova' on January 29, 2010.
