Bio

Second-wave Chicago house impresario Felix da Housecat entered the elite via his recordings and his ownership of Radikal Fear Records, one of the premier Chicago labels of the 1990s. An introduction to Chicago legend DJ Pierre during the mid-'80s gave the 15-year-old Felix Stallings Jr. the kickstart he wanted, and with some help from Pierre, he produced his first single, 'Phantasy Girl,' in 1987. Felix da Housecat is mostly known for house music and electro, producing an eclectic mix of sound from resolute acid and techno warrior to avant-garde nu-skool electro-disco.

Life & Career

Felix Stallings had a hit in 1992 with the single 'Thee Dawn' on Guerilla Records & formed Radikal Fear Records, which became a top house imprint in 1995. The year 2001 saw him gain mainstream exposure through articles in glossy magazines across the globe. He has remix work for the likes of Madonna and Kylie Minogue and has released three full-lengths since 2001. 'Thee Industry Made Me Do It' is his best-known single. The Dj’s wild lifestyle and grueling schedule on the road forced Felix to 'hit the reset button' over the next few years and get sober. He returned to the scene in 2013 with a series of electro-disco EPs, including Sinner Winner, co-released by his label Rude Picture and the Brooklyn imprint No Shame, calling himself 'Thee Former Mezcalateer.' Felix collaborated with Dub legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry for the 2015 introspective Narrative of Thee Blast Illusion & that’s the latest we’ve got on him.
