Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a Pakistani musician, primarily of Qawwali, a Muslim Sufis’ devotional music. He is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, and the grandson of Qawwali singer Fateh Ali Khan. In addition to Qawwali, he also performs ghazals and other light music.
Rahat has been an integral part of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's renowned qawwali community since he was 15 and toured the UK with his uncle in 1985. Rahat contributed to the 1995 Hollywood film’s soundtrack, Dead Man Walking, with his uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, working in collaboration with Eddie Vedder. He was the first Pakistani to appear at any Nobel Prize concert in 2014.
