O Rappa was a Brazilian reggae/rock band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.Combining many styles such as rock, reggae, funk, hip hop and samba, O Rappa's songs contain sharp protests against the social problems in Brazil.
Rappa did not get much success with their debut album, but achieved national fame with the second album Rappa Mundi, released in 1996. In 2001, they lost their leader, drummer and main lyricist, Marcelo Yuka, when he became a paraplegic after being shot in a robbery. With the instrument assumed by the keyboardist Marcelo Lobato and the lyrics of Marcos Lobato, O Rappa remained in the activity, releasing the album ""O Silêncio Q Precede o Esporro" in 2003 and remaining like one of the most acclaimed bands of Brazilian rock. Rappa has sold more than 5 million copies of his work around the world.
