M83

M83 became one of the more influential acts of the 2000s and 2010s. Anthony Gonzalez's fascination with memories, melancholy, and the past helped set the era's musical trends. His mastery of mood made him a perfect fit for soundtracks ranging from blockbusters like 2013's Oblivion to art films such as 2019's Knife+Heart.

González grew up in Antibes, France. He formed My Violent Wish band with Nicolas Fromageau while in high school. 'M83' is the name of the French electronic duo M83, which was formed in 2000. The second full-length M83, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Souls, was released in 2003. Before the Dawn Saves Us was released by Gooom in Europe and Mute Records in the U.S. in 2005. Gonzalez returned to the studio to record his third album, Digital Shades, Vol. 1, in the year 2007. The next album of M83 was released in March 2019. The band has previously released remixes of songs from previous albums. In the past, the band has also collaborated with Sundfør, Beck and Mai Lan.
