Os Paralamas do Sucesso (also known only by Paralamas) is a rock band, formed in the Rio de Janeiro municipality of Seropédica, in 1982.
One of the most traditional Brazilian rock groups in activity, Os Paralamas do Sucesso began playing together in the early 80's in Brasilia. The debut album, "Cinema Mudo", arrived in 1983 and already had two classics: "Química" (lyrics by Renato Russo) and "Cinema Mudo". The repercussion was very positive and the next work was released the following year. Entitled "O Passo do Lui", this second album was hugely successful. In February 2001, Herbert Vianna suffered an ultralight accident in Mangaratiba, south coast of Rio de Janeiro. With the support of his family and bandmates, in addition to the legion of fans, the musician managed to recover surprisingly and, despite being in a wheelchair, continued his career with Paralamas, releasing in 2002 the album "Longo Caminho ", Showing that the title of the album really indicated the future of the band. "Uns Dias", recorded live at Olympia in São Paulo in November 2003, with the participation of several artists, was released in 2004, bringing the great classics of the band. "Hoje" is the unpublished album, released in 2005, with the participation of Manu Chao, Andreas Kisser (from Sepultura) and Nando Reis (ex-Titãs), among others. The album won the "Best Brazilian Rock Album" at the 2006 Latin Grammy Awards, showing that the Paralamas remain firm and energetic for new hits.
