Bio

The self-proclaimed "Ambassador of Rap for the Capital," Wale was able to transcend his status as local sensation and become a national rap contender using go-go-inspired hip-hop as the vehicle for his clever wordplay and music. Most of the major singles that ensued for him, however, were melodic slow jams spread across the tail-end of the 2000s and well into the late 2010s. He made his initial impact with his number' Dig Dug' and signed a contract with a local label called 'Studio 43.'

Life & Career

In 2006, Wale signed a contract with a local label called ‘Studio 43’ and released his track ‘Dig Dug.’ He was also featured in the magazine ‘The Source.’ As he established himself in the music industry, he signed a contract with ‘Allido Records’ and ‘Interscope Records’ to release his fourth mixtape, ‘The Mixtape About Nothing,’ in 2008. Wale released his debut album, ‘Attention Deficit,’ in 2009. It featured stars such as Lady Gaga, Gucci Mane, and Jazmine Sullivan. His marketing strategy to promote his albums worked well for his third and fourth album, ‘The Gifted,’ and ‘The Album About Nothing,’ that were released in 2013 and 2015, respectively. Lately, he has performed with several stars such as Rick Ross, Tiara Thomas, and Trinidad James. He recorded the music for the famous ‘ESPN’ sports talk-show ‘First Take’ and released his fifth album, ‘Shine,’ in 2017 with ‘Warner Brothers Records.’
