Kanye Omari West has reinvented hip hop several times over in the course of a stellar career. He has made headlines for his bizarre tweets and his grand pronouncements & also has an award-show stage invasion and his flashbulb-popping marriage to Kim Kardashian. The rapper has won 21 Grammy awards, eight solo albums debuting at No. 1, and two inclusions in Time magazine's 100 most influential people. West was raised in Chicago & started rapping from the age of 7. When he was 20, he decided to drop out of college and pursue music professionally. His music has always been appreciated by music critics for its innovation and the risk that West takes with its creativity.

Life & Career

West was active in small-time music production ventures till early 2000s. He produced music for the local band. West was given the long overdue opportunity in 2000 when he became an artists producer on Roc-A-Fella Records for famous singers such as: Common, Ludacris, Cam'Ron, etc., he produced hit singles in 2001 especially when the world-renowned rapper and entertainment business tycoon Jay-Z asked West to produce many tracks from his hit album 'The Blueprint.' In 2007, West released his third studio album 'Graduation.' It sold about 957,000 copies in its very first week while the track 'Stronger' became West's biggest hit single. In 2010, West's fifth studio album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' became platinum in the States. And in 2013, he came out with his sixth album 'Yeezus,' receiving rave reviews from the music critics. West had his eighth album 'Ye' released in 2018 & also released the non-Album single ‘XTCY’ the same year. He kicked off his weekly 'Sunday Service' orchestration in 2019 including West's soul variations and songs by other celebrities. Ye's mascot and trademark is the 'Dropout Bear,' a teddy bear that appears on three of his seven solo albums. In September 2018, the rapper announced on his Twitter account that he would change his stage name to 'Ye' for spiritual reasons. Ye also owns the G.O.D. Music label having contracts with artists such as John Legend, Big Sean, Pusha.
