Bio

Kings of Leon gradually evolved into an ambitious pop band during the 2000s, originally known as 'the Southern Strokes' with their revival and reinvention of pop & roll influenced Dixie. The Tennessee-bred quartet debuted in 2003 with the Holy Roller Novocaine EP. As the band explored different sonic textures with subsequent releases, those tenuous links to the Strokes were finally dissolved & they experienced immediate popularity in the U.K.; enjoying platinum album sales. The Followill siblings had spent their youth traveling across America's heartland with their evangelist father. When their father resigned from the church, the boys relocated to Nashville. Cousin Matthew was added to the lineup, and a Southern garage rock sound quickly emerged.

Life & Career

Tours across North America and the UK. coincided with the band's full-length debut album, Youth & Young Manhood. The album achieved modest success, owing to the successful song ‘Molly's Chambers.’ The band's second album, Aha Shake Heartbreak, made them European stars. Their third album, Because of the Times, was their biggest release to date. It debuted at number 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and topped the album charts in the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand. The band has since toured and played alongside the likes of U2. Kings of Leon returned with Only by the Night, a colossally popular album. They briefly holed up in Manhattan's Avatar Studios to work on a fifth record. They returned to the road during the summer of 2010, playing some of their new material in concert. More recently, the band released their seventh studio album, WALLS. It was produced with Markus Dravs, featuring the single ‘Waste a Moment.’
