Bio

Andrew Finn Magill (born 6 March 1987) is an American musician and composer.His primary instrument is the violin and he is associated with traditional Irish, Celtic, bluegrass, old-time, jazz, and choro. He leads the band O Finno, a choro quartet based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.He has worked with many musicians including Open the Door for Three, John Doyle, Cillian Vallely, The Paul McKenna Band, 'Gaelic Americana' singer Kyle Carey and Peter Mawanga. Magill grew up in Asheville, North Carolina where his father directs the Swannanoa Gathering folk arts workshops at Warren Wilson College.He attended the University of North Carolina for his undergraduate degree.In 2009 he was awarded a Fulbright-mtvU fellowship by the U.S. State Department to produce an album about AIDS with Malawi musician Peter Mawanga.
